Blister was an adult female SandWing who was introduced in The Dragonet Prophecy. She was one of the three rival sisters who fought for the SandWing throne during the War of SandWing Succession, and was considered one of the deadliest and most cunning dragons in Pyrrhia during her lifetime. She was killed by the Eye of Onyx after attempting to steal it from Thorn during The Brightest Night.
Appearance
Blister had yellow[1] and white-gold scales[2] as pale as desert sand, and a black diamond pattern running down her spine.[3] She had glittering,[4] obsidian-black eyes[5] and a snakelike gaze,[6] as well as a long, cunning face[3] and a serpentine figure.[7] Her voice was slithering,[8] and had a strange hiss to it.[2]
She was smaller than Burn, with an eerie stillness about her, like a venomous snake about to strike.[3] Unlike her sisters, she had no scars,[9] but Blister's pitch-dark eyes were similar to theirs.[10] She resembled her brother, Smolder, as they shared the same narrow face, lidded dark eyes, and black scale patterns.[11]
She had been depicted wearing black diamonds as earrings and a sheath on her ankle containing a wicked-looking dagger.[4]
Personality
Glory implied that Blister was one of the scariest dragons in Pyrrhia.[12] She is malevolently scrutinizing,[13] and considered hybrids to be "cross-contamination" within her army.[14] Like Burn, she appeared to have no mercy on anyone she considered an enemy, or even those who knew too much, as displayed when she killed the SkyWing guardian, Kestrel. Unlike her sister Burn, she regarded killing as a necessary task to gain the throne, rather than a pleasurable pastime. She was described as the smartest and most cunning of the three SandWing sisters and proved to be very intelligent throughout the series, even sometimes being referred to as one of the smartest dragons in Pyrrhia. She is sinister, perhaps too sinister when Morrowseer scolded her for being suspicious and odd at the dragonets of destiny. Blister was a master trickster, having at one point convinced each one of her soldiers that he or she was an elite spy on Blister's orders and was the reason the entire war started in the first place. She also seemed to think very highly of herself, as she addressed Queen Coral informally as "Coral" as though she were an equal.
These harsh personality traits were also present when Blister was young, as in shown in Deserter where Six-Claws suspected that Blister and Burn had banded together in an attempt to get Blaze trapped in a deadly sandstorm when she was only a dragonet.
In The Lost Heir, Blister stated that the Talons of Peace wanted her to be queen, when in reality she hid how she secretly formed an alliance with the NightWings. She also tried to trick the dragonets of destiny to pick her, which greatly angered her when Starflight fails on the latter.

| Blister was the second oldest daughter of Queen Oasis and was also the least trustworthy of her three children (in Oasis's opinion, according to The Brightest Night's prologue). Oasis had always thought that Blister would be the one to challenge her, ever since she learned becoming queen was as simple as killing her mother. After Oasis — who she tricked into fighting alone — was killed at the hands of a scavenger, Blister stole all of the SandWing treasure and became embroiled in a conflict for the SandWing throne with her two sisters, Burn and Blaze. She also had Smolder, her brother and hatchmate, who sided with Burn and his now-deceased brothers, Scald and Singe. To compensate for Blaze and Burn, she allied with the SeaWings (also temporarily sided with the MudWings, but due to Commander Tempest's assassination, they left to Burn instead due to Deathbringer's cleverness), and later, secretly with the NightWings. |

Blister visited the Summer Palace in the middle of The Lost Heir to concur with Queen Coral and to check up on Anemone's progress with her powers. While she was there, she met the dragonets of destiny for the first time, who happened to be sleeping in her cave. Blister decided to have breakfast with the dragonets, attempting to get to know them better and convince them to choose her as the SandWing queen. Afterward, Blister watched Anemone's animus training, saying it was "impressive, but not much more than last time." After leaving the session, Blister spotted an unnatural movement in the Summer Palace canopy. Believing it was a spy, she flew up to the canopy and revealed the dragon to the others, who happened to be Webs. After Blister realized who Webs was, she remembered the plan to kill the dragonets' guardians and convinced Coral to execute Webs (as well as Riptide, who was found working with Webs). A little while later, she, Coral, Moray, Anemone, Auklet, and the dragonets of destiny were all sitting on a beach. When Tsunami suggests that the dragonets leave the Kingdom of the Sea, Blister and Coral decided to lock them up in the prison. When the Summer Palace is attacked, she severely scratched Webs with her tail as he was trying to escape, critically injuring him, in an attempt to kill him for the plan. Though the wound itself was not fatal, the venom was, and Webs suffered from it after their escape. She reappeared in the epilogue, standing over the now-destroyed Summer Palace with Morrowseer. Nautilus and Morrowseer explained the plan for the false dragonets to her, and she ordered Starflight and Tsunami to be killed. |

| While heading to the Rainforest Kingdom, Glory questioned Blister's motive for wanting to kill Webs. Later, when the dragonets were meeting Blaze, Glory ponders on what would happen if they chose Blaze to be the SandWing queen, as well as whether Blister knows more about the prophecy than the dragonets. After Deathbringer revealed that he was sent to kill some of the dragonets, Starflight deduces that it was due to his failure to convince the dragonets to choose Blister. |

Blister featured as one of the narrators in the epilogue, examining a scavenger den. Meanwhile, Nautilus came to speak with her, bringing Squid, who Morrowseer had left to die in the mountains. Blister then stated that she wanted the original dragonets dead. She also seemed to have lost her alliance with the SeaWings, as they hadn't contacted her ever since the attack on the Summer Palace, though she has continuously sent scouts to the ruins of the SeaWings' above-water palace, to no avail. It is revealed that she resided in a hideout located in the Bay of a Thousand Scales, where she ensured her soldiers' loyalty by tricking them all into spying on each other and punishing any hint of insubordination with death or other brutal punishments. |

Sunny used the Obsidian Mirror to spy on Blister, but only heard the part where she was asking where Morrowseer was and discussing a part of her plan to kill Burn. Blister was invited to Burn's stronghold by the dragonets of destiny for the choosing of the SandWing queen in The Brightest Night. She gave Burn a gift, but Burn recognized the sound of the dragonbite vipers that were inside. Burn pinned one of them in her talons but did not realize that there were two, and the second one killed her, with Blister watching in delight. Blister then attacked Blaze, knowing that she was the last obstacle to the throne, and easily overpowered her, giving her a few bleeding wounds and planning on toying with her before finishing her off. The two sisters stopped fighting, however, when Sunny gave Thorn the Eye of Onyx. Angered, Blister revealed the full extent of her plan — from tricking Queen Oasis into flying to her death, to turn the fight over the throne into a worldwide war, to getting around a duel with Burn, using the dragonbite vipers. She said that she was the smartest dragon in Pyrrhia and should be queen and grabbed the Eye from Thorn. However, an unknown enchantment on the Eye caused it to become electrified, and she was shocked to death, collapsing to the ground and exploding into a pile of dust. |

Blister is yet again mentioned to have a smart, snakelike personality, and is described to "look like she's murdering you with her eyes." Blister is revealed to have come from the same hatching as Smolder, which explains the scales. Blister plots with Burn to kill Blaze, using a crown to lure her out into the desert, all while knowing that a sandstorm is blowing in. However, the plot fails, and Blaze is still alive. This is, Blister discovers, at the fault of Six-Claws, and she offers to give him some impossible missions that would most likely kill him, in revenge for ruining her plot. When Queen Oasis dies, Blister and Burn both claims that they were going to challenge her soon. Burn offers to duel with Blister, but Blister objects that it wouldn't be fair to Blaze. When Six-Claws is leading his battalion in search for Blaze, Burn arrives and announces that the MudWings have dropped their alliance with Blister. |
Relationships
Burn
Blister did not have a good relationship with her older sister and was an enemy during the war. Blister knew that she would not win against Burn in a regular challenge for the throne, so she used two dragonbite vipers as her weapons instead. Despite this, she liked Burn much more than Blaze.
Coral
Coral was Blister's ally during the Great War alongside her subjects. As such, Blister was respectful to Coral, but did not address her by her formal title. She found Coral easy to manipulate, such as when she convinced her to send Riptide and Webs to the dungeons, saying that they must be killing the eggs so they can get Tsunami to be queen.
Dragonets of destiny
Blister tried to manipulate the dragonets into choosing her, conspiring with Morrowseer until he delivered the message to Starflight to choose and respect Blister. However, she did not like them, as Starflight and Tsunami spoke out against her and did not find her a good choice for queen. Blister became furthermore furious when Sunny handed the Eye of Onyx to Thorn, ultimately leading to her rage and death upon stealing the Eye of Onyx from Thorn.
Morrowseer
As the NightWings were secretly allied with Blister, she often confided with Morrowseer about plans to take the throne. They were on good terms and exchanged many sinister ideas. Sometimes, Blister could become frustrated at Morrowseer for not coming to meetings on time and choosing the meeting place, only to arrive late.
Oasis
Blister did not have a good relationship with her mother, as Oasis knew that she was a threat. Oasis suspected that she would be the one to try for the throne the moment she hatched.
Tempest
Blister was shown to resent Tempest a little despite the SeaWing being on her side. This is shown when General Swamp yelled at Blister and said that she called Tempest smelly, loud, and her soldiers obeyed her orders "like pathetic big-eyed manatees."[4]
