"My parents sent me to Burn's army to toughen me up. They said this way I'd end up as brave as a real soldier or else dead, and either of those would be an improvement."
— Camel to Sunny, The Brightest Night

Camel is an adult male SandWing who was introduced in The Brightest Night. He served as a guard under Burn during the War of SandWing Succession.

Description[]

Camel has a snub-nose.[1]

Personality[]

He appears to be cowardly and not very tough.[2] He constantly frets and was fearful and helpless when General Sandstorm died.[1] However, Camel also seems kind[3] and cares a great deal for his family.[4]

Biography[]

Pre-Series
Camel was sent to Burn's army to toughen up because his parents wanted him to be brave or dead, for "either one would be an improvement." He later got married, and he and his partner had three eggs. According to him when talking to Sunny, if he disobeyed Burn's orders, his eggs could be taken away.

The Dragonet Prophecy[]

The Brightest Night
He informed Smolder of the attack on Burn's stronghold, and the death of General Sandstorm. Smolder tasked him with watching Sunny until the battle subsided. Sunny asked for his name and also pleaded with him to let her go to fight with her mother, Thorn. He was nervous about the battle and he was also very unsure about letting Sunny go wherever she pleased, even though he was still keeping an eye on her.

Legends[]

Dragonslayer
Camel was seen by Wren bursting into General Sandstorm's room and alerting him of the Outclaw attack. Sandstorm told him to calm down and followed him out the door to the battlefield.

Winglets[]

Deserter
Blaze stated that Agave stole her crown and hid it in the sandstorm, according to Camel. She also says that Camel heard it from Parch, her best friend.
