- "I'm happy with my sibs, I don't want dragonets yet, and I don't even want to hear about this again for at least ten years."
- — Egret to Sawgrass about having dragonets, A Guide to the Dragon World
Egret was an adult female MudWing who was featured in A Guide to the Dragon World. She ruled as queen of the MudWings after challenging her mother, Queen Anhinga, and was the bigwings of her siblings. Before her death, she resided in the MudWing palace.
Description[]
Egret had warm brown eyes and a strong snout.[1] She was the largest of her siblings, only slightly bigger than Sawgrass.[2]
Personality[]
Egret was patient, thoughtful, and wise. She acted good-naturedly toward her siblings and loved them dearly.[3] Despite this, Sawgrass claimed that she was not gentle with her siblings[4] and was careless with them. Later in her reign as queen, Egret became meaner, paranoid, and reckless.[5]
Biography[]
Pre-Series[]
Egret hatched in the MudWing palace with her other siblings and was raised as the destined heir to the throne. When her mother was elderly, Egret challenged her for the throne and won, becoming queen of the MudWings. On her first day as queen, Egret got her royal portrait done while being pestered by Sawgrass about having dragonets.
Later into her reign as queen, Copperhead, one of Egret's sibs, ran away to be with a RainWing, causing the queen to become paranoid and furious. She would intentionally scare her siblings with her reckless behavior, eventually leading to her death.

Egret was happy with her siblings and loved them dearly;[3] however, she was not gentle with them and would frighten them to amuse herself.[4] Despite her love for them, she was careless and after Copperhead disappeared, she began to doubt their loyalty to her. She would scare them with stories of what could happen to Copperhead[5] and would act recklessly to scare her siblings.[6]
