"You look lovely, Indigo."
— Manta to Indigo, Darkstalker

Manta was an adult female SeaWing who was introduced in Darkstalker. She was a SeaWing princess and resided in the Kingdom of the Sea until she was killed by Albatross during the Royal SeaWing Massacre. She was Fathom's and Pearl's mother, the wife of Reef, and Albatross's daughter.

Personality[]

Manta often laughed[1] and smiled, and did not seem to mind that Indigo had borrowed Pearl's jewelry to attend a diplomatic party.[2] Her way of handling everything was to attempt to calm others down.[3] Unlike her aunt, Lagoon, Manta was never stuck-up or cruel to dragons of the lower-class and openly went out of her way to fulfill the task of deep-sea diving Lagoon had assigned to Indigo out of petty spite. It seems Manta was relatively close to her father, Albatross, before his descent into madness, as Albatross appeared fond of her.

Legends[]

Darkstalker[]

Manta was a close friend of Indigo's mother and had taken Indigo in, raising her alongside Fathom and Pearl. Manta treated Indigo well and when her aunt, Queen Lagoon commanded the young dragonet to go deep-sea diving for the queen's favorite snack, Manta stopped Indigo and went herself, to Lagoon's irritation.

Manta was one of the many SeaWings who attended a party hosted by Queen Lagoon, in honor of two SkyWing delegates sent to end a border dispute. While Fathom, Indigo, and Pearl were preparing to leave for the party, Indigo asked if Manta would mind her wearing Pearls' necklace, to which the other two reassured her that Manta would not mind. At the party, Fathom noticed the strange energy between Pearl and Manta, and thought back to what Indigo told him, which was that it was because the only way for Pearl to ascend the throne was for her to win against Manta in a royal challenge. However, she and her husband, Reef, were killed shortly after Albatross started the massacre whilst begging for him to spare Fathom's life.
