Prudence had black scales.
She seemed to be a very cunning and scheming, masterminding the plan to get her tribe animus magic. She showed little regard to Foeslayer, insulting her and controlling her.
Foeslayer mentioned Prudence when talking to Prince Arctic, saying that Prudence told her what to do all the time. She was also mentioned, not by name, when Darkstalker revealed his animus power. Foeslayer said that her mother would be pleased.
Prudence was one of the four dragons, including her daughter, who went on the diplomatic trip to the Ice Kingdom.
She was, at one point, "frozen" by Prince Arctic with his enchanted dagger and then unfrozen. She agreed to escape with him and Foeslayer from the IceWings along with Starclaws and Discretion after being threatened by Arctic.
- "Foeslayer, you are driving me mad. Either sit in a corner and read or help me pack. If I hear your claws squeaking back and forth on the ice one more time, I'll remove them and give them to the library as quills."
- ― (Runaway)
- "Of course I knew. Why do you think I brought you in the first place? You're the only NightWing in the tribe who would do something this idiotic, and I had a feeling you'd catch the prince's eye. But I didn't think he was as big an idiot as you are. I thought he had some loyalty to his tribe. Some sense of right and wrong. Young dragons are so useless. All I can say is you'd better have dragonets fast, Foeslayer. As many as possible, so our tribe can inherit animus magic and make this whole disaster worthwhile."
- ― to Foeslayer, about Arctic (Runaway)
- Prudence is technically the reason the NightWings have animus magic, because in Runaway, it is explained that she wanted Foeslayer to fall in love with Arctic so that the NightWings would get animus magic. She further encouraged Foeslayer and Arctic's relationship.
