"Everything you have will be mine when I'm queen, you know. Even stupid beach trash like this."
— Sapphire to Albatross, Darkstalker

Sapphire was an adult female SeaWing princess who was mentioned in Darkstalker. After losing her claws to a clamshell enchanted by Albatross, she went insane and was stationed on a remote island within the Kingdom of the Sea under the care of two very well-paid servants.

Description[]

Sapphire had no claws.[1]

Personality[]

Sapphire was mocking towards Albatross, reminding him that once she began ruling the Kingdom of the Sea, she would own everything, even beach trash.[1] After the clamshell incident, she devolved into insanity.[2]

Biography[]

Pre-Series[]

When Lagoon and Sapphire were dragonets, they teased Albatross while he was playing with a clamshell. Sapphire attempted to take the clamshell away, taunting Albatross and claiming that one day, everything would be hers, even the clamshell. Albatross was not aware of his animus powers at the time, and therefore never expected his verbal order to be followed, but he commanded the shell to "Bite her! Bite all her claws off!"

Since that day, Sapphire had been unable to hunt, battle, or swim efficiently, thus she could never be queen. She avoided the SeaWing palace and was stationed on a remote island with the company of two particularly well-paid servants. It was mentioned that Sapphire developed both insanity and a probable hatred for Albatross after the incident on the beach. Lagoon was the only known dragon to have ever visited her.

Legends[]

Darkstalker
Albatross recited the tragic story of himself and Sapphire to his grandson, Fathom, of how he discovered his animus magic. Later, after the Royal SeaWing Massacre, Sapphire was mentioned to be the only other member of the royal family besides Pearl who could rule the Kingdom of the Sea, however due to her physical and mental inabilities, she could never be a proper queen.

Quotes[]

"Sapphire, of course, could never be queen after that — a dragon with no claws cannot hunt or fight, and as for swimming ... well, who looks like a feeble old duck now. She went a little mad, I'm afraid. Now she is kept on an island far away from everyone else, tended by two very well-paid servants. Lagoon visits her occasionally, but I never have. I assume Sapphire would prefer never to see me again."
